Viakoo is an Enterprise IoT Applications Management company. They help protect an organization’s Internet of Things from security vulnerabilities that arise due to the low computational capabilities, heterogeneous transmission technology, and hardware limitations.

Do you have any idea what we’re talking about? Don’t worry...Viakoo’s target audience was confused too.

Here’s a simplified breakdown:

Most businesses use a network of smart devices to operate more efficiently, called an Internet of Things (IoT). IoT includes familiar smart devices, like phones and laptops, and innumerable other tools that collect and send information, such as security cameras, scanners, equipment, and even thermostats and smart locks.

Each of these items uses a unique security system to keep hackers from gaining access. However, most of these defenses are too weak to actually deter a cybercriminal. Many organizations lack the knowledge, skills, and resources to implement adequate security protocols for every IoT device.

To make matters more complicated, for example, employees also unknowingly jeopardize security when they use company-owned smart devices on unsecured wifi networks.

Viakoo helps businesses keep hackers from accessing their smart devices, disrupting operations, and compromising confidential data.

 

The Challenge

Tobe’s solution would need to address three major pain points:

  1. Simplicity: As you can see, it is difficult to explain the Viakoo Action Platform in terms that any solution-seeker or decision maker within an organization could easily comprehend.
  2. Branding: Viakoo had recently rebranded. It was critical that the solution aligned with and enhanced its rebrand.
  3. Awareness: Many businesses are simply unaware of the potentially debilitating security issues lurking within their network of smart devices.

 

The Solution

Video is the best medium to make complex information digestible. The combination of audio, text, and visuals makes it easier to provide a large amount of detail in a short amount of time, with minimal effort needed from the viewer.

We determined that the video should focus on two major pain points for Viakoo’s target audience:

  1. Their current methods of cybersecurity are no longer adequate
  2. Their IT team doesn’t have the bandwidth to initiate and maintain vigilant IoT security

The above elements would address Viakoo’s simplicity and branding challenges, but it was important that the video also make viewers aware of their cybersecurity vulnerabilities and the grave repercussions these weaknesses could create.

To emphasize the severity of this risk, we chose to use a foreboding tone for the video.

 

The Results

This project culminated in a branded, neatly-packaged, two-minute video explaining IoT security risks and why Viakoo is the best choice to solve the problem.

The video relies on modern visual and audible storytelling to engage the viewer emotionally and make the issues and solution easier to understand.

Viakoo is able to use the video on their website as part of their inbound marketing strategy and in outreach as part of their sales strategy.
